Easy Ways To Boost Your Health In 2017

Being healthy is actually quite easy. Your body wants to be healthy. You just have to let it! Here are some simple things you can implement this year that will help.

Eat green veggies with EVERY meal (yes, EVERY meal!)

This may sound like your worst nightmare unless you're a goat, but it's actually quite easy and will do wonders for your health! Simply buy a bag of salad or greens from the local supermarket and add a handful to each of your meals. I'm not being delusional here, I know they ain't the tastiest food source but they are one of the best for your health! If you can't face them at every meal, at least try having a few servings each day. Try whizzing 'em up in a tasty smoothie if you really can't stand the taste.

Raise your heart rate EVERY day (yes, EVERY day!!)

Performing some form of activity that raises your heart rate every day is one of the best things you can do for your health. You don't even have to raise it for very long. As little as 15 - 20 mins a day will be a massive health boost to those who do no exercise. If you're a weights junkie, remember to add in some cardio work, otherwise you'll suffer the consequences eventually. There are many options to choose from here; you can walk, jog, cycle, swim, play sports... Just keep that heart rate up for at least 15 mins.

Hydrate

The amount of people that complain about headaches and feeling tired all the time amazes me! This is often because most of the population are constantly dehydrated. We are lucky enough in the western world to have an abundance of water so drink up! The old '8 glasses a day' rule probably won't suffice unless you sit still all day in a nice cool room. Climate, body composition, diet, exercise and lifestyle all play a factor in how much you should drink. Try to keep a water bottle with you all day and sip it regularly. See the chart below for guidance on what colour your urine should be for optimal hydration.

Sleep

You can take all the best supplements, eat all the right food and workout every single day. If you don't get enough sleep, your health will suffer. Individual requirements vary but aim for 8 hours per night. If you get less than 6 hours of sleep each night you're immune system is compromised and you are more likely to store body fat for the next day or so.

Relax

Stress is a serious hazard to our health. With raised cortisol, high blood pressure and anxiety, your body will take the toll. There are many ways to combat stress. Simply taking some time out of the day to relax is a good start. Having a nice bath, meditation, quality family time and exercise are all great stress busters. Try to never let stress get on top of you as there's nothing more important than your health.

Try and implement these simple health tips and 2017 will turn out to be a much better year. Nobody wants to feel or look like crap so start taking control of your health today!
