The Importance of Flexibility
Stretching and mobility is often underrated, particularly in the world of strength training. Taking the time to stretch before, during and after workouts can make a huge difference in your general wellbeing.
There are a lot of myths out there about stretching and I suggest that you dismiss these and try it out for yourself before believing everything you hear.
As you gain more strength and muscle mass it is important to ensure you stay supple and limber if you want to remain functional. There are so many ways to stretch, just find a routine that suits you and mix it up now and again. Look out for areas that you find particularly tight and spend more time as required. If you want to take it to another level, classes such as yoga and pilates will further improve your flexibility, whilst improving your posture and core strength.
Remember, flexibility is the only factor in health and fitness which improves all other areas. Stretching will improve strength, speed, agility, function, and much much more! Not only that, it will help to prevent injury, keeping you in the gym year round.
